Today we embarked on a trip to Hahndorf. Unfortunately Herbes Cafe has permanently closed, a previous favourite. Luckily a new vegan cafe, Veggie Vie opened up and we were keen to try it. Sitting in a cafe with kids is only recently become easier now that my eldest is 3 years old he seem to have a bit more patience and able to sit down.
Veggie Vie Vegan Cafe
100% plant based menu, everything made fresh!
Veggie Vie was quite busy, the people were friendly and the cafe was quite inviting. The menu had quite a few options; healthy bowls, hot pot, burgers, brunch items and treats. There was an extensive smoothie menu and some speciality coffee alternatives. I had the breakfast burger with the vegan egg! The vegan egg was like a little pancake, it was delicious. Would be keen to go back and choose another menu item.

Christmas walk along the main street:
A great attraction for preschoolers.
We took a walk along the main street to find lots of christmas upcycled decorations scattered on pots, trees, benches all ready for the main event Gathered Christmas Design market on 12-14th December https://hahndorfsa.org.au/ultimate-guide-to-the-hahndorf-christmas-village-2025/. This was great discovery for the 3 year old. We also spied a “free phone call to Santa”. A great free activity to do with young kids this christmas.

Puppy Place
A quick visit to say hi to the puppies at the shop: so adorable!

Eis Haus- icecream cafe http://eishaus.com.au/
I spied the menu at the Dessert cafe and was highly tempted with the advertised dairy free spagehetti ice-cream options but was full from lunch. Will have to come back to review.
Also great kids activites is going to Beerenburg Strawberry Farm and going to the cafe or going strawberry picking. The Hahndorf Farm barn also is a great few hours spent too.
